Abstract

Objective: To compare the gingival subside effect for the early state of gingivitis dental patient, the clinical test was performed with double blinded test method.

Methods: Sixty adults volunteers, who had pre-gingivitis were collected and let them tooth-brushing with use of 4 kinds of dentifrices, after dividing them with 4 groups, as Rhatany, Chamomile, and Myrrh tinc contained dentifrice as experimental group 1, Tocopherol acetate, Cetylpyridinium Chloride, Glycyrrhetinic acid contained dentifrice as experimental group 2, Dental type silica, Sodium fluoride, Zea Mays L., Magnoliae cortex, Centella asiatica contained dentifrice as experimental group 3 and Tocopherol acetate, Cetylpyridinium Chloride, Glycyrrhetinic acid contained with the component in low concentration as in normal dentifrice level as the control group, as 15 subjects in a group. Oral examination with oral photo taking were done for each subject before the project, 3, 7, 14 days after experiment, respectively to check Gingival bleeding index, Gingival index and Papillary, Marginal and Attached gingiva index were compared with each group.

Results: It revealed the similar level of the gingival subside effect for the pre-gingivitis, in group 1 and 3, using therapeutic dentifrice. Therapeutic dentifrice contained with Tocopherol acetate, Cetylpyridinium Chloride and Glycyrrhetinic acid was more effect for the gingival subside effect than use of the dentifrice with the same components with low concentration as a classified as a cosmetic dentifrice, for 2 weeks use.

Conclusion: It was recommended to use the therapeutic dentifrice or cosmetic dentifrice with Zea Mays L., Magnoliae cortex and Centella asiatica for subside gingivitis.
